Home / Ninth Regiment Monument - New Haven / Ninth Regiment Monument - Vicksburg / Soldiers and Sailors Monument - New Haven
Legislation passed in the 1990s authorized the National Park Service to accept title to the Grants Canal tract
for inclusion in the Vicksburg National Military park. The legislation also expanded the park's interpretive
mission to encompass the time period from April 1862 to July 4th 1863. Consequently the state of Connecticut
placed a monument on the grounds of the park to honor the gallant soldiers of the Nith Connecticut Infantry, in October of 2008.
