Patrick Cullen of New Haven enlisted as a private in Company A of the Ninth on August 15, 1864 and was transferred to Company A of the Ninth Battalion Connecticut Volunteers on October 12, 1864. He was taken prisoner at the battle of Cedar Creek in Virginia on October 19, 1864 and died on November 21, 1864 at the Confederate prison in Salisbury, N. C.
