Patrick Flanagan enlisted in Company A of the Ninth as a Musician on August 22, 1861. He became a re-enlisted veteran on January 6, 1864 and was injured September 21, 1864 at fisher’s Hill, Va. He was transferred to Company A, 9th Battalion C. V. on October 12, 1864 and was mustered out on August 3, 1865.
He attended many reunions of soldiers of the Ninth and can be seen with pipe in hand (front row) at a reunion held at Savin Rock, West Haven, CT in the photograph below.
He died September 12, 1920 and was buried at Saint Lawrence Cemetery in New Haven. Ron Thompson and Bob Lee are descendants.
